REPORTING LITERACY WITH ICT
Teachers report on three areas of LwICT:

1. Uses ICT to plan and gather information
  • Can create or modify electronic graphic organizers, timelines, outlines, science experiment report.
  • Gathers information from electronic sources such as CD-ROMs, websites, email.
  • Refines searches in electronic encyclopedias or search engines.
  • Identifies sources of information.
  • Records data or makes notes on information using ICT applications (tables, graphic organizers, spreadsheets)
  • Organizes information using ICT applications (tables, graphic organizers, spreadsheets)
  • Collects data using digital camera, video camera, digital audio recorder, scanner.
  • Identifies examples of media sources that contain manipulated information (pop-up ads, bogus websites, graphs showing only selected data)

2. Uses ICT to create and Communicate
  • Composes text, sketches images, makes graphs.
  • Records sound, creates multimedia presentations, creates web pages.
  • Enhances electronic product to improve clarity (revise text, images, sound, edit video)
  • Uses virtual manipulatives, animation, simulation software, etc. to manipulate data and to solve problems.
  • Displays and/or shares electronic products.
  • Discusses information and ideas using electronic communication tools (email, chat, threaded discussion, blogs, etc.)

3. Demonstrates Responsibility and Ethics with ICT
  • Respects the ICT Equipment
    • Proper care of CD’s (handle at edges)
    • Use keyboard and mouse properly
    • Turn on and shut down properly
  • Respects other’s space (not reaching over to use other’s keyboard or mouse, keep speaker volume low)
  • Ensures security of own username and password
  • Knows and follows school’s computer use policy
  • Knows and follows school’s internet use policy
  • Uses email, instant messaging, or chat responsibly (no gossip or bullying, not revealing personal information)
  • Understands consequences of unethical behavior like plagiarism, copyright violations, consumer fraud, cyber bullying, software piracy.
